DESCRIPTION: This is a chandelier I made after seeing the Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit of stained glass at the Allentown Art Museum last February, 2002. In the show booklet, which I purchased was a photo of the Butterfly Chandeliers in the Dana House. This is not a copy but an experiment in the Southwestern style that is so popular now. The fixture is a 24" hexagonal pyramid depending 28" from two 1/4" brass rods. The framework is reinforced using 1/4" by 1/8" zinc rebars to give it internal stiffness. It symbolizes the mountains in summer and autumn as seen against a rainbowed sky. I used a translucent light blue and white wispy opal for the lower "sky" and an iridized granular clear cathedral for the upper "sky". The darkest blue is Cobalt and the patina is antique copper.
