Introduction to Stained Glass

Intermediate and Advanced Stained Glass

  • Required: previous experience or Introducton to Stained Glass (see above)
  • Learn the full range of skills required to create in stained glass
  • Work on projects or skills of your choice
    • cutting and fitting
    • creating and working with patterns (cartoons)
    • rigid came and structural reinforcement
    • boxes and lampshades
    • large panels
    • patinas and finishes
    • advanced color and design
    • let us custom-design a class just for your needs

Introduction to Lampwork Beads

Have you seen Italian Moretti glass from the island of Murano near Venice worked over a flame into a lush designer-bead? Lampworked beads can be exquisite little glass sculptures, and Nic is a master teacher.

  • Learn the ancient techniques used by Italian masters
  • Learn basic shapes like roundel, barrel, bicone, and lentil

Advanced Lampwork Beads

We offer advanced techniques in soft glass, and in borosilicate

  • Using precious metals in beads (silver, gold, palladium)
  • Noodles, twisties, stringers, and frit
  • Raking and simple sculptural forms
  • We can start you any time. Call to enroll.
  • Three hour minimum
  • Cost: $45/hour plus materials

Kiln-fired Glass

We teach you the skills needed to assemble and fire glass jewelry cabochons, pendants and slumped glass bracelets in our kiln.

  • Preparing the kiln and glass
  • Tack fusing up to 5 layers and fire polishing
  • Full fusing with clear encasing
  • Designing for a predictable outcome
  • Glass lapping and polishing with abrasive
  • We can start you any time. Call to enroll.
